Anaesthetising animals with significant cardiac disease, or even heart failure, is one of the biggest challenges in veterinary anaesthesia. This webinar will assist practitioners to minimise risk while performing anaesthesia in small animals with different types of cardiac disease, by carefully tailoring their anaesthetic management plan for the individual animal. We will cover pre-anaesthetic considerations, pharmaceutical options, monitoring and supportive care, and the recovery period.

The Australian Veterinary Nurse and Technician (AVNAT) Regulatory Council has allocated 1 AVNAT CPD point to this continuing education activity.

Specialist Veterinary Anaesthetist at Animalius

Jen graduated from Glasgow University in 2005, then spent the next six years working in general veterinary practice in the UK and Australia. In 2011, Jen joined the Murdoch University anaesthesia department where she completed her specialist training in 2015, passing the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia Diploma examination the same year. Between 2015-2020 Jen worked as a registrar and lecturer in anaesthesia at Murdoch University. Jen is currently working as a specialist veterinary anaesthetist at Animalius, a veterinary specialist hospital in Perth. Jen is also completing a PhD in the diagnosis of peri-operative acute kidney injury in dogs.
